Versatile Windows
Tilt-and-turn windows provide the option to tilt inward for gentle ventilation or fully swing open inward, offering flexibility in how you manage airflow in your space.
This dual functionality not only enhances indoor air quality but also simplifies cleaning, as both the interior and exterior surfaces of the window are easily accessible from inside your home.

Building Regulation Compliant
- Moreover, the windows comply with UK building regulations by meeting several key requirements related to safety, energy efficiency, and accessibility:

- Tilt-and-turn windows are often used as emergency escape routes in residential buildings. When fully opened, they provide a large enough opening for a person to exit in case of an emergency, complying with fire safety regulations that require accessible escape routes.

- These windows offer effective ventilation, which is a key requirement under UK building regulations. The ability to tilt the window allows for controlled airflow, improving indoor air quality and helping to prevent condensation and mold.

- Tilt-and-turn windows are designed to be highly energy-efficient, with secure seals and double or triple glazing options. This helps in meeting the thermal performance standards set out in the regulations, ensuring that the windows contribute to energy conservation by reducing heat loss

- These windows can be easily operated from the inside, making them compliant with accessibility standards. They are designed to be opened and closed without excessive force, which is important for ensuring that buildings are usable by everyone, including people with disabilities.

- In areas where windows are located near the floor or in critical locations, tilt-and-turn windows can be fitted with safety glazing that meets the requirements of Part K. This reduces the risk of injury if the glass is broken.
- By meeting these standards, tilt-and-turn windows comply with the UK building regulations, ensuring they are safe, efficient, and accessible.
How to Operate a Tilt-and-Turn Window
- Operating a tilt-and-turn window is straightforward and typically involves a single handle with different positions to control its functions. Here’s how to use it:
-
Close the Window
To close the window completely, ensure the handle is in the downward vertical position (6 o’clock). In this position, the window is locked and securely sealed. -
Tilt for Ventilation
To tilt the window inward for ventilation, turn the handle to the upward vertical position (12 o’clock). This will allow the top of the window to tilt inward, creating a small gap at the top for controlled airflow. -
Turn for Full Opening
To open the window fully inward like a door, turn the handle to the horizontal position (3 o’clock). This unlocks the side hinges, allowing the window to swing open inwardly, making it easy to clean both sides of the glass from inside the room.

We have used SBW on several occasions…
We have used SBW on several occasions over the years and always found their services very good, hence I’m a repeat customer. I’ve had bifold and sliding patio doors, front door, other exterior doors and replacement double glazing windows. Quality products, great customer service and aftercare.
Was very impressed both by the service…
Was very impressed both by the service and the product. After a bad experience with a previous window company, which you could feel the draft coming through after one month of instalation, I was skeptical to try different company. I am thrilled I found SBW GROUP. I had my windows done in April 2024 and the quality is above my expectations. The installation team was very organised, professional and considerate and we are very pleased with the results. Highly recommend them.
