Types of anti-burglary fittings

Various types of anti-burglary fittings play a crucial role in enhancing window security and protecting against break-ins. Anti-theft catches, for instance, are components affixed to the window frame and are compatible with locking pins. These pins, typically mushroom-shaped, when combined with anti-theft catches, ensure a sturdy connection between the sash and frame, offering high resistance against forced entry attempts. The presence of multiple such catches enhances the window’s resistance to burglary. Window fittings are categorized into standard protection and classes RC1 and RC2, each offering varying levels of security.

Standard fitting

Standard window Fittings do not have any special protection, but they have at least one anti-burglary catch. The number of such catches depends primarily on the type and size of the window joinery. In hard-to-reach windows, standard fittings are more than enough.

Fitting Type RC1

Anti-burglary fittings in the RC1 resistance class provide protection against burglary with the use of force (digging, hitting, tearing out) by using additional protection of each corner of the window. Fittings have at least five anti-burglary catches. The number of such catches depends primarily on the type and size of the window joinery. In easily accessible windows it is recommended to use RC1 class security.

Fitting Type RC2

The anti-burglary fitting in the RC2 resistance class increases the protection against burglary with the use of force and tools. It makes it difficult to get inside through appropriate spacing of anti-theft catches, of which there are at least seven. The number of such catches depends primarily on the type and size of the window joinery. In easily accessible windows it is recommended to use RC2 class security.

I have new windows and one door fitted last year with Sbw Group LTD company. I am very happy how my windows looks. The quality is very good, we saw a big difference on the comfort inside the house as we don’t feel the wind and cold through the windows.
